Head Middle School Cross Country Coach
SOUTH BEND — At the Stanley Clark Invitational today, Bethany Christian Middle School eighth-grader Hannah Yeakey was second in the girls race, posting a time of 11:46. Sister and Bethany sixth-grader Fiona Yeakey took 12th place in a personal-best time of 14:34.
The Bethany boys took second at the same Invitational. Leaders for Bethany were seventh-grader Jonah Hochstetler, third in 11:35; fellow seventh-grader Dustin Miller, seventh in 11:49; eighth-grader Joel Plank, eleventh in 12:30; and seventh-grader Lucas Brownsburger-Keyes, thirteenth in 12:38, and eighth-grader Jackson King, 20th in 13:35. Miller, Plank, and King joined fifth-grader Jacob Plank in posting personal bests on the day.

Since Bethany does not field a complete girls team, results are incomplete. However, Hannah Yeakey won the race in a time of 12:50. Fiona Yeakey was 12th of 19 in 16:21.
The Bethany boys lost to West Noble, 42 to 16. Jonah Hochstetler was Bethany's top finisher in 12:41.

Leading the team was Jonah Hochstetler, 21st in 11:55. Joel Plank was 32nd in 12:55, Lucas Brownsberger-Keyes 44th in 13:12, Jackson King 53rd in 13:55, and Jacob Plank 54th in 14:41. Joel Plank, Brownsberger-Keyes, King, and Jacob Plank all posted season best times.
The girls did not field a complete team, but Hannah Yeakey was second in the race in 11:43. Fiona Yeakey was 45th in 15:15. Both were season personal bests.
The team hosts West Noble in a meet on Monday.

In the boys race, team scores were ECA 26, Fairfield 34, Howe 91, and Bethany 100. Leading the boys were Jonah Hochstetler, ninth in 12:05, and Dustin Miller, 11th in 12:20. Jacob Plank posted a personal best in the race.
Bethany did not field a complete girls team, but Hannah Yeakey was the overall winner, covering the course in 11:49.

LIGONIER, Ind. — While neither the boys nor the girls fielded a complete team at today's West Noble Invitational, some very good times were logged.
In the girls varsity race, eighth-grader Hannah Yeakey placed 17th in a field of 196, clocked at 11:51.0, while sister Fiona (sixth grade) finished in 175th with a time of 15:52.4. Both times are personal bests.
Seventh-grader Jonah Hochstetler was Bethany's leader in the boys varsity race, taking 90th out of 210 runners in 11:54.9, followed closely by fellow seventh-grader Dustin Miller at 106th in 12:07.8. Rounding out the Bethany runners were seventh-grader Lucas Brownsburger-Keyes in 158th place at 13:09 and eighth-grader Jackson King in 188th place at 13:54. Hochstetler, Miller, and King all ran lifetime personal bests.
The teams compete next at Elkhart Christian Academy with Fairfield on Tuesday.

NAPPANEE, Ind. — The Bethany Christian Middle School boys and girls competed in a four-way cross country meet with NorthWood, Goshen, and Schmucker at NorthWood Middle School this afternoon.
[Editor's note: This is the first time in BBB history that Bethany and Schmucker have competed head-to-head.]
Scores for the girls were incomplete — Bethany fields fewer than the requisite five runners for the girls — but Hannah Yeakey placed third overall in the girls race with a time of 13:19. A total of 86 middle school girls competed in the race.
[Editor's other note: Yeakey's time is the fastest by a Bruin since 2009, according to our archives.]
The boys were bested by NorthWood, 15 to 50; by Goshen, 15 to 48, and by Schmucker, 16 to 47. Leading the way was Jonah Hochstetler, 17th out of 81 boys competing.
The team travels next Tuesday to Central Noble for a meet with Westview and Central Noble.

The boys were bested by NorthWood, 15 to 50; by Goshen, 15 to 48, and by Schmucker, 16 to 47. Leading the way was Jonah Hochstetler, 17th out of 81 boys competing.
