Caskey's Scoring Outbreak Nets Athlete of the Week Honor

NOMINATE FOR ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Caskey
GOSHEN — After tallying four goals and two assists as part of a 23-shot Bruin barrage Tuesday night in a 10-0 rout of the South Bend Riley JV, senior Emma Caskey is the Athlete of the Week for August 14-20, 2011. While the Bruins have reached ten goals three times in the last two-plus years, the four-goal individual performance is the most since another Emma, 2010 graduate Gerig, put four shots in the net against Riley on Aug. 18, 2009.

Selection: All Bruins in a position to win any athletic letter (varsity, JV or freshman) during the current season, or middle school counterparts of high schoolers fitting those criteria, are eligible. The only exceptions are recent winners: therefore, Caskey will be ineligible until Sunday, Sept. 18. Nominations are taken each week until Sunday at 5:30 p.m., at which time the Athlete of the Week committee makes its final decision.

Nominations for next week's award are due Sunday, Aug. 28 at 5:30 p.m. To nominate someone, send an e-mail to bleedingbruinblue@gmail.com and put "AOW nomination: [name of athlete]" in the subject line. If you highlight a player's name and click on the "nominate" link at the top of the post, it should generate an e-mail message nominating that player. The body of the message can be used for whatever you want. The three simple things that will disqualify a message are:
  1. A subject line that reads "AOW nomination: [name of athlete]" without actually naming an athlete.
  2. Anyone nominating multiple people will have only the last nomination counted.
  3. We reserve the right to ignore e-mails with unnecessarily vulgar sections.
Previous award winners can be found on our Athlete of the Week page.
