Assist Leader Snyder Athlete of the Week

NOMINATE FOR ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Snyder
GOSHEN — After lengthy deliberation by the Athlete of the Week Committee, junior Andrew Snyder has been named the Bleeding Bruin Blue Athlete of the Week for August 28 to September 3. The midfielder picked up his first goal of the season Thursday in the Carroll Classic semifinals, then tallied one assist in the semifinal and final as Bethany won the tournament for the first time in its history.

Snyder is the second consecutive boys soccer Athlete of the Week, following senior Femi Hollinger-Janzen, who won the award last week following a five-goal outburst against Lakeland Christian. As recent winners, Snyder and Hollinger-Janzen will be ineligible until Oct. 2 and Sept. 25, respectively; Emma Caskey, the Aug. 21 winner, will become eligible again on Sept. 18.

Selection: All Bruins in a position to win any athletic letter (varsity, JV or freshman) during the current season, or middle school counterparts of high schoolers fitting those criteria, are eligible. The only exceptions are recent winners, mentioned above. Nominations are taken each week until Sunday at 5:30 p.m., at which time the Athlete of the Week committee makes its final decision.

Nominations for next week's award are due Sunday, Sept. 11 at 5:30 p.m. To nominate someone, send an e-mail to bleedingbruinblue@gmail.com and put "AOW nomination: [name of athlete]" in the subject line. If you highlight a player's name and click on the "nominate" link at the top of the post, it should generate an e-mail message nominating that player. The body of the message can be used for whatever you want. The three simple things that will disqualify a message are:
  1. A subject line that reads "AOW nomination: [name of athlete]" without actually naming an athlete.
  2. Anyone nominating multiple people will have only the last nomination counted.
  3. We reserve the right to ignore e-mails with unnecessarily vulgar sections.
Previous award winners can be found on our Athlete of the Week page.
