Tuesday's Trivia & Sunday's Deadline

8. On Jan. 7, 2005, what was the official score of the Bethany/Argos boys varsity basketball game?
9. As the teams left the floor after the game, what was the score?
10. Why are the answers to #8 and #9 different?
(Monday's Trivia; The Rules)

Deadline: The deadline for this contest will be Sunday evening on the first quarter-hour following the conclusion of the NFL's Philadelphia/Minnesota wild-card playoff game. As the game starts at 4:30, the deadline will probably be somewhere in the vicinity of 7:45 or 8:00 p.m. EST.

Remember that all of this week's questions can be answered until then. Just because you didn't see all of the questions as soon as they were up doesn't mean you can't answer them.

Monday's Trivia

(scroll down a post for full details)
  • 6-7. Who won that Game 7? Who was their starting pitcher?

Bleeding Bruin Blue Weekly Trivia Contest

In lieu of this week's Athlete of the Week award, Bleeding Bruin Blue will hold a trivia contest this week. There are two main differences between the trivia award and AOW, namely:
  1. The trivia award is given based on trivia knowledge, rather than domination in the field of athletics.
  2. Any reader is eligible for the trivia contest, not just athletes, and no one is ineligible because they won recently.
With that in mind, the basic format of the trivia contest will be that I post trivia questions and readers respond to them. They can e-mail me, they can leave their responses in the comments section...the method of response is not the most important thing. (This does not say that it does not matter. Please do not give me the answer by carrier pigeon, banner towed by aircraft, telephone, or fax. Skywriting is OK if I actually see it. While we're inside parentheses, you can also look up the answers for all I care.) At the end of the week, defined in this case as sometime Sunday afternoon, whoever has answered the most questions correctly will win. If multiple people have the same number of correct answers, I will randomly choose one. I will accept answers for any of that week's questions up until the end of the week.

With the previous paragraph in mind, here is the first set of questions:
  • 1. What school did the Bethany baseball team defeat for the program's only sectional title?
  • 2. What member of this team (the team BCHS beat) went on to play a major professional sport at its highest level?
  • 3. In what year did the sectional take place?
  • 4-5. In Game 7 of that year's World Series, name the losing team and their starting pitcher.

Bleeding Bruin Blue Athlete of the Week: December 21-27

The Bleeding Bruin Blue Athlete of the Week for December 21-27 is Twila Albrecht. To know exactly what Twila has done to deserve this honor, type her name into the search box at the top of the page (or click here). If you don't understand the award, feel free to comment (link at the bottom of the post) or e-mail me.

Eligibility:
Literally all Bruins in a position to win any high school athletic letter (varsity, JV or freshman) during the current season, and their middle school counterparts, are eligible. The only exceptions are the winners from the last three weeks: Albrecht, Jordan Weaver, and Trent Yoder. As three weeks have elapsed since her win on Dec. 7, Jenae Rupp becomes eligible again next week; however, she's not scheduled to play next week.

Next Week:
Bethany has no scheduled events next week, so there will be no AOW next week. However, a similarly-styled pseudo-replacement award will be announced tomorrow.

This Week In Bruindom, December 28-January 3

Nothing scheduled.

Bleeding Bruin Blue Athlete of the Week: December 14-20

The Bleeding Bruin Blue Athlete of the Week for December 14-20 is Jordan Weaver. If you must know exactly what Jordan has done to deserve this honor, type his name into the search box at the top of the page (or click here). If you don't understand the award, feel free to comment (link at the bottom of the post) or e-mail me.

Eligibility:
Literally all Bruins in a position to win any high school athletic letter (varsity, JV or freshman) during the current season, and their middle school counterparts, are eligible. The only exceptions are the winners from the last three weeks: Weaver, Trent Yoder, and Jenae Rupp. As three weeks have elapsed since his win on Nov. 30, Seth Kauffman becomes eligible again next week; however, he's not scheduled to play next week.

Next Week:
Next week's nominations will be due Saturday, December 27, at 7:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. (This is on Saturday because our athletic events for the week end on Tuesday, and to name an Athlete on Sunday would require me to do so in a different time zone.) The list of times by week is linked to on the right side. As I said several months ago, the first person to correctly name how I determined the times will get mentioned in a future post. To nominate someone, send an e-mail to senorloco1908@gmail.com and put "AOW nomination: [name of athlete ('athlete' is singular, not plural)]" in the subject line. (You can even include the quotes if you want.) The body of the message can be used for whatever you want. The three simple things that will disqualify a message are:
  1. A subject line that reads "AOW nomination: [name of athlete ('athlete' is singular, not plural)]" without actually naming an athlete.
  2. Anyone nominating multiple people will have only the last nomination counted.
  3. Señor Loco reserves the right to ignore e-mails with unnecessarily vulgar sections.

Eligibility:
Literally all Bruins in a position to win any high school athletic letter (varsity, JV or freshman) during the current season, and their middle school counterparts, are eligible. The only exceptions are the winners from the last three weeks: Yoder, Jenae Rupp, and Seth Kauffman. As three weeks have elapsed since her win on Nov. 23, Marla zumFelde becomes eligible again next week.

Next Week:
Next week's nominations will be due Sunday, December 21, at 3:15 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The list of times by week is linked to on the right side.
