NOMINATE FOR ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Lewis Caskey signed a national letter of intent this week to continue his soccer and academic careers at Goshen (Ind.) College, Bleeding Bruin Blue has learned. The Maple Leafs, coached by Thavisak Mounsithiraj, finished 9-8-2 in 2008 (5-2-1 in Mid-Central Conference play) and advanced to the NAIA national soccer tournament in 2007.

Caskey was a four-year letterwinner and three-year starter in the Bruin backfield, where he was voted defensive MVP and co-captain in his senior year. He and one unsigned freshman will join three other Bethany graduates on Goshen's soccer team in 2009, including junior Martin Brubaker, who captained the school's only sectional championship team in 2006.

Caskey will join Hannah Grieser (volleyball), Luke Slagel (baseball), and Alita Yoder (cross country) along with three seniors who have not yet signed as Bethany graduates at Goshen in 2009-10, while Jodi Stutzman will continue her softball career at Hesston (Kan.) College, and several more athletes have not yet signed at various schools.
