Bethany shines brightly under new coach

GOSHEN — With a new varsity head coach calling the shots of the Bethany Christian Bruins, one could assume that the game-time plans could be drastically changed for the upcoming season. However, the Bethany Christian Bruins showed that under new coach Mark Yoder, they are still a force to be reckoned with, beating the Marian Knights 2-0. Scoring for the Bruins were Nate Nussbaum and Josh Stoltzfus.

The Bruins also received plenty of help from their new sophomore goalkeeper Trent Yoder, who seemed to make impressive stops left and right. The Knights tried to up the tempo in the last 15 minutes of the game, seemingly trying to wear the Bruins down to the point that they make a mistake. However the Bruins did not back down and kept Marian’s attack at bay, seemingly finishing the game with a break-away goal by senior Josh Stoltzfus with 14 seconds to go.

The Bruins will be in action this Thursday, as they travel to Elkhart Memorial.
