Athlete of the Week Update

Here is the protocol for selection of Athlete of the Week, in case you didn't see the original post:

• Selection: Anyone may nominate an athlete by sending an e-mail to senorloco1908@gmail.com and putting “AOW nomination: [name]” in the subject line, replacing [name] with the nominee’s name. The body of the message may be used for whatever you want: making a case for selection, correcting my factual errors, stupid jokes, etc. The nomination period for a given week ends at *1:30 p.m. Sunday after the week ends. For example, nominations for the week of Mon., August 18 to Sat., August 23 will end at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 24. From these nominations and his own, Señor Loco will choose the athlete of the week. THIS WILL NOT BE DECIDED SOLELY ON NUMBER OF NOMINATIONS RECEIVED.

However, I'm running a little bit behind today. In consideration of this and the impending holiday, I'm going to move the nomination deadline for this week only to 11:59 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, Sunday, August 31, the year of our Lord 2008. I will announce a winner Monday morning. And I will expand the major-league roster from 25 to 40.
