Bleeding Bruin Blue Athlete of the Week, April 19-25

NOMINATE FOR ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

The Bleeding Bruin Blue Athlete of the Week for April 19-25 is Ryan Snyder. To know what Snyder has done to win this honor, like keeping an always-embarrassing single-digit track score away from Bethany, type his name into the search box at the top of the page (or click here). If you don't understand the award, feel free to comment (link at the bottom of the post) or e-mail me.

Eligibility:
Literally all Bruins in a position to win any high school athletic letter (varsity, JV or freshman) during the current season, and their middle school counterparts, are eligible. The only exceptions are recent winners: Snyder, Ali Hochstetler and Emma Gerig are ineligible for April 26-May 2.

Next Week:
Next (this) week's nominations will be due Sunday, May 3, at 4:30 p.m. Central Standard Time. The list of times by week is linked to on the right side and here. As I said several months ago, the first person to correctly name how I determined the times will get mentioned in a future post. To nominate someone, send an e-mail to senorloco1908@gmail.com and put "AOW nomination: [name of athlete ('athlete' is singular, not plural)]" in the subject line. (You can even include the quotes if you want; a link that should do this is at the top of this post.) The body of the message can be used for whatever you want. The three simple things that will disqualify a message are:
  1. A subject line that reads "AOW nomination: [name of athlete ('athlete' is singular, not plural)]" without actually naming an athlete.
  2. Anyone nominating multiple people will have only the last nomination counted.
  3. Señor Loco reserves the right to ignore e-mails with unnecessarily vulgar sections.

Bleeding Bruin Blue Athlete of the Week: Preview

As we get into the fall sports seasons (school's out for the day, first matches in 90 minutes +/-), I'm going to institute a new feature:

Bleeding Bruin Blue Athlete of the Week

The rules:
  • The BBB Athlete of the Week is the student-athlete who, throughout the previous week, demonstrated the most superior athletic performance (including objectives such as sportsmanship and fair play).
  • The week shall run from Monday to Saturday: IHSAA rules prohibit school athletic events on Sunday.
  • All Bruin athletic personnel eligible for high school letters (or middle schoolers in similar capacities) are eligible.
  • Performances will be evaluated based on the level at which they occurred (i.e. a middle school performance will be better than a statistically identical high school JV performance, in turn better than an identical varsity performance).
  • All performances, in all sports, in the week in question will be considered when giving the award. Participation on non-school teams shall not be taken into consideration.
  • Upon receiving the award, a player shall be ineligible for the next four (4) weeks.
  • Eligibility shall reset when the player’s team enters state tournament series play. Multi-sport athletes will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Selection: Anyone may nominate an athlete by sending an e-mail to senorloco1908@gmail.com and putting “AOW nomination: [name]” in the subject line, replacing [name] with the nominee’s name. The body of the message may be used for whatever you want: making a case for selection, correcting my factual errors, stupid jokes, etc. The nomination period for a given week ends at varying times Sunday after the week ends. For example, nominations for the week of Mon., August 18 to Sat., August 23 will end on Sunday, August 24. (CLICK HERE to see times by week.) From these nominations and his own, Señor Loco will choose the athlete of the week. THIS WILL NOT BE DECIDED SOLELY ON NUMBER OF NOMINATIONS RECEIVED.
