Noble Second Bruin to Appear in D-I Game

NOMINATE FOR ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — With a pinch-running appearance in the fifth inning of today's Indiana-Michigan State softball game, 2009 Bethany graduate Chelsea Noble became the second Bruin to appear in an NCAA Division I sporting event. Noble replaced Sara Olson as the designated player after Olson was hit by a pitch in the bottom of the fifth inning; she scored on a grand slam by the Hoosiers' next batter, Cassie Gogreve. While Olson remained in the game as the pitcher, Noble would have hit second in the bottom of the seventh inning; however, the hosting Hoosiers led 6-4 on the Gogreve blast, making the final half-inning unnecessary.

Noble follows partially in the postsecondary footsteps of Jennifer Mortrud, who also continued her softball career at the Division I level after graduating from Bethany in 1994; however, Mortrud did so at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo. Western will also be the destination of the third Bruin to go D-I as Jesse Ramer is set to join their men's soccer team this fall.

Bleeding Bruin Blue Athlete of the Week: March 22-28

NOMINATE FOR ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

The Bleeding Bruin Blue Athlete of the Week for March 22-28 is Chelsea Noble. To know what Noble has done to win this honor, type her name into the search box at the top of the page (or click here). If you don't understand the award, feel free to comment (link at the bottom of the post) or e-mail me.

Eligibility:
Literally all Bruins in a position to win any high school athletic letter (varsity, JV or freshman) during the current season, and their middle school counterparts, are eligible. Noble is the only winner since eligibilty reset for spring sports

Next Week:
Next week's nominations will be due Sunday, April 5, at 4:00 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time. (This is the part where I check if you know what time that really is.) There will be a trivia contest April 5-12. The list of times by week is linked to on the right side and here. As I said several months ago, the first person to correctly name how I determined the times will get mentioned in a future post. To nominate someone, send an e-mail to senorloco1908@gmail.com and put "AOW nomination: [name of athlete ('athlete' is singular, not plural)]" in the subject line. (You can even include the quotes if you want; a link that should do this is at the top of this post.) The body of the message can be used for whatever you want. The three simple things that will disqualify a message are:
  1. A subject line that reads "AOW nomination: [name of athlete ('athlete' is singular, not plural)]" without actually naming an athlete.
  2. Anyone nominating multiple people will have only the last nomination counted.
  3. SeƱor Loco reserves the right to ignore e-mails with unnecessarily vulgar sections.
